The confirmed opening premise
Bandai Namco's official gameplay guide describes a slightly different world of ONE PIECE. One day, an impostor of the famous seafaring restaurant Baratie suddenly appears. Its overpriced food spreads bad rumours across the sea and damages the real restaurant's reputation.
Luffy and Sanji decide to act. To defeat the impostors and restore the restaurant's reputation, they open a second restaurant called Baratie Number Two. Pocket Gamer's gameplay reveal from September 16, 2026 reports the same impostor-restaurant setup.
That premise is the only part of the story Bandai Namco has spelled out in detail. It explains why you are building a new restaurant rather than running the original Baratie. Anything beyond it, such as later story beats, has not been officially described.
Your role and starting point
You play as a rookie staff member who joins the Straw Hat Crew. The launch announcement says you begin with a modest ship and work to turn it into the most renowned culinary destination on the seas. Toei Animation describes the same goal as turning a humble ship into the ultimate floating restaurant.
The crew is part of your day-to-day work. Bandai Namco mentions watching Luffy and the Straw Hat Crew train to improve their service. Sanji is your partner in the kitchen throughout the official material.
Customers arrive from across the ONE PIECE world, each with their own tastes. Bandai Namco says fulfilling their requests grows your fanbase and brings them back. Building that fanbase is how the restaurant moves from rumour-damaged newcomer to famous floating restaurant.
What you learn first
The official gameplay lesson is split into three parts: cooking, restaurant design and meeting characters. It is a guide to systems rather than a list of missions. Use it as your map of what the early game will ask you to do.
These activities repeat throughout the game, so learning them well is more useful than memorising a fixed order. The list below summarises each one in the publisher's own terms. None of them is described as a one-time stage you complete and leave behind.
- Cooking: mix and match ingredients and recipes with Sanji, then plate and decorate dishes.
- Set menus: combine finished dishes with decorative elements into original sets.
- Design: arrange more than 200 furniture pieces to create different moods around tables.
- Characters: meet more than 400 characters, fulfil their requests and turn them into regulars.
- Exploration: head out for ingredients and explore more of the seas as the restaurant expands.
What the preview demo showed
UnGeek published hands-on impressions of a short demo on September 17, 2026. The reviewer found the tutorial fast-paced and the early presentation dense. They also showed an Alabasta-themed interior and only a limited selection of dishes.
A short preview is useful context, but it is not a completed campaign. It cannot tell us how many chapters exist, how the story ends or how long the game takes. We treat it as a snapshot of the opening hours of a preview build.
Why we have not published step-by-step missions
A walkthrough needs facts that only the released game can provide. Chapter names, exact quest steps, missable content, completion time and ending conditions had not been established when we checked. Writing them now would mean guessing.
The official gameplay sections are also easy to misread as chapters. Cooking, decor and character encounters are systems that run in parallel, not stages you finish in order. We keep them in our game guide instead of presenting them as a campaign route.
What a full walkthrough will include
Once the game is out, each walkthrough step will be tied to a version, a platform and a screenshot from our own play. Steps will name the trigger, the requirement and the outcome we observed. Anything we cannot reproduce will be labelled as unconfirmed.
We will also note where Nintendo, PC and mobile versions differ, if they do. The publisher has announced the same game across five platforms, but no source has compared their progression. Platform-specific notes will only appear when they are tested.
Common walkthrough questions
How long is ONE PIECE: Grand Gourmet? No completion time has been announced, and no reviewer had finished the game when we checked. We will add a measured playtime once the game is out.
Is the game multiplayer? Steam lists it as a single-player game, and no official source mentions co-op or online play. Do not expect to share a restaurant with friends unless the publisher announces it.
Can I continue a Switch save on Switch 2? Nintendo's US listing says the Switch edition cannot be upgraded to the Switch 2 edition, and saves cannot be transferred between those two editions. Pick the edition you plan to keep before starting a long playthrough.
Characters along the way
Luffy and Sanji lead the story, and the rest of the Straw Hat Crew works alongside you. Bandai Namco says more than 400 characters appear, including beloved Straw Hats and iconic figures from across the series. They visit as customers, work in the restaurant and trigger unique events.
The official material does not list which characters appear at which point in the game. We will not publish a character unlock order until we can confirm it in play. For now, the gameplay guide promises plenty of familiar faces as the restaurant expands across the seas.
How to get started today
Until a verified route exists, the official videos are the best way to preview the opening systems. Bandai Namco Entertainment America and Bandai Namco Europe both released gameplay introductions on September 15, 2026. Our game guide embeds the American video so you can watch it on this site.
The game is announced for October 23, 2026 on Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PC via Steam, iOS and Android. Storefront dates can differ, so check your own store before launch day. Our release date page tracks the dates each store displays.
If you want to prepare, read our beginner tips and recipes pages. They explain the confirmed systems without inventing numbers. We will turn this page into a full walkthrough once the steps can be verified.
