ONE PIECE: Grand Gourmet Guide: How the Restaurant Works

ONE PIECE: Grand Gourmet is built around one loop: gather ingredients, cook new dishes with Sanji, combine them into set menus, decorate the restaurant and win over customers who each have their own tastes. As Baratie Number Two grows, you explore more of the seas and meet more of the game's 400-plus characters. This guide explains each confirmed system using official Bandai Namco material and early hands-on coverage. It does not claim an optimal build order, because the full release had not been tested when this page was checked on October 19, 2026.

Why Baratie Number Two exists

The official gameplay guide sets the scene in a slightly different version of the ONE PIECE world. An impostor of the famous sea restaurant Baratie appears and serves overpriced food, and bad rumours quickly damage the real restaurant's reputation. Luffy and Sanji respond by opening a second restaurant, Baratie Number Two, to beat the impostors and restore that reputation.

You join as a rookie staff member rather than as one of the Straw Hats. The launch announcement describes the start as a modest ship that you gradually turn into a renowned floating restaurant. Pocket Gamer's gameplay report from September 16, 2026 repeats the same impostor-restaurant premise.

This setup explains what success means in the game. Toei Animation frames the goal as growing your reputation and making the restaurant the talk of the seas. Every system below, from cooking to furniture, feeds into that reputation through happier and more loyal customers.

The management loop at a glance

Every official description returns to the same cycle of activities. You collect ingredients, cook dishes, present them as menus and shape the dining room so that customers want to come back. Bandai Namco also mentions watching Luffy and the Straw Hat Crew train to improve their service.

Treat the steps below as the confirmed building blocks, not as a ranked strategy. The publisher has not published a tested order of priorities. The sequence simply follows how the systems feed into each other.

  • Gather ingredients by heading out for new dishes.
  • Cook with Sanji by combining ingredients and recipes.
  • Plate and decorate dishes, then combine them into set menus.
  • Arrange furniture and decorations to set the mood around tables.
  • Fulfil customer requests so regulars keep returning.

Cooking and set menus

In the kitchen you team up with Sanji to mix and match ingredients and recipes and create new dishes for the menu. Devil Fruit users can provide special assistance while you cook. Once a dish is finished, plating and decoration add the final touch.

Finished dishes are then combined with decorative elements to form original set menus. Bandai Namco names Water-Water Meat BBQ as one familiar dish and mentions imaginative recipes influenced by Devil Fruit powers. The UnGeek hands-on preview also describes developing dishes and set menus, while noting that only a limited selection was available in the demo.

An official Steam screenshot shows what a finished set looks like on screen. It lists a Captain's Combo Plate set with Main, Side Dish, Dessert and drink slots, plus a Tastiness rating. Treat it as an example of the menu screen rather than a recipe formula, and see our recipes page for every dish name confirmed so far.

Designing the restaurant

Food is only half of the job, according to the official guide. More than 200 furniture pieces can be combined and arranged freely to build the restaurant you have in mind. Different furniture creates different moods around your tables, and some pieces will look familiar to ONE PIECE fans.

The launch announcement says decor is inspired by locations such as Whole Cake Island and Egghead. Each setup can attract different characters and turn visitors into loyal regulars. Customers can even open their own special shops inside your restaurant.

The UnGeek preview showed an Alabasta-themed interior, which illustrates how far theming can go. Another official Steam screenshot shows an Alabasta Kingdom style lamp described as a facility that makes tables more comfortable. No source ranks themes by income, so choose a look you like and watch how customers respond.

Customers, requests and 400-plus characters

More than 400 characters appear in a pixel art style, and Bandai Namco says this is their first appearance in that style. They can interact, work and dine in the restaurant, which unlocks unique events and special moments. Toei Animation describes them as both staff and guests.

Each character has preferences for food and for decor. Fulfilling customer requests grows your fanbase and encourages people to return again and again. As the restaurant expands you can explore more of the seas and welcome even more customers.

Toei Animation adds that every visit brings new interactions and surprises. The gameplay guide also mentions memorable interactions and friendships forming inside the restaurant. Paying attention to who visits, and what they ask for, is the clearest confirmed way to build a loyal fanbase.

Where and when you can play

Bandai Namco announced the game for Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PC via Steam, the App Store and Google Play. The publisher's launch date is October 23, 2026, and Nintendo's US store lists the same date. The Steam page showed October 22, 2026 when we checked, so confirm the date in your own storefront.

Steam lists ONE PIECE: Grand Gourmet as a single-player game with Steam Achievements and Steam Cloud. Kairosoft developed the game and Bandai Namco Entertainment publishes it. Our platform pages cover each version, edition and store listing in more detail.

What early previews add

UnGeek played a short demo and linked menus and interior improvements to customer growth. The same preview found the tutorial fast-paced and the early presentation dense. Those are impressions of a preview build and may not describe the final release.

Bandai Namco also published a three-part gameplay lesson on September 15, 2026, with an official video on YouTube. That video is embedded below so you can see the systems in motion without leaving this page. It explains cooking, design and character encounters rather than a full campaign route.

What this guide does not cover yet

No complete progression tree, tested first-week route or staff assignment table had been verified when this page was checked. We therefore do not recommend a fixed spending order or claim that one strategy is best. Those answers need the released game and repeatable testing.

For narrower questions, use the dedicated pages linked below. Recipes, recipe unlocks, ingredient locations, money and layouts each have their own article that separates confirmed facts from open questions. We will update this guide with tested advice once the game is out.
