The verdict in one paragraph
Reviewers broadly describe ONE PIECE: Grand Gourmet as a charming, fan-friendly restaurant management sim in the Kairosoft tradition. It is not a cooking game in the hands-on sense: you build, staff and grow Baratie Number Two rather than prepare dishes yourself. Most outlets enjoyed it, but few called it a must-play for people outside the One Piece fanbase.
The Metascore of 73 sits in the 'generally favorable' to 'mixed' boundary and was based on only eight reviews when we checked. Expect it to move as more outlets publish after the October 23, 2026 launch.
What critics praised
If you have enjoyed earlier Kairosoft games, the consensus is that this one delivers the same satisfying growth curve with a One Piece coat of paint.
- The roster: spotting familiar One Piece characters among the customers and staff is a highlight for TheSixthAxis.
- Content and story: Pocket Tactics praises the characters, the story and the sheer amount to do.
- The loop: UnGeek found it addictive once the systems click, and Siliconera calls it a classic Kairosoft sim.
- Affection for the source: Final Weapon says the game clearly loves the IP.
The complaints that kept coming up
None of these were described as deal-breakers, but they explain why scores cluster in the 7s rather than the 9s.
- Controls: TheSixthAxis calls them clunky and notes rough visual and audio quirks.
- Music: Final Weapon singles out one track that loops for most of the game as a major miss.
- Onboarding: UnGeek says the mechanics can feel overwhelming at first, and the game lacks challenge later.
- Accessibility for non-fans: Cubed3 says it is hard to get into if you have never read or watched One Piece.
- Decoration: Pocket Tactics finds the decor options less robust than dedicated life sims.
Which version did reviewers play?
Cubed3 reviewed the Nintendo Switch 2 edition. Reviews we found did not compare all five versions side by side, so performance differences between Switch, Switch 2, Steam and mobile are not yet well documented.
Remember that the Switch and Switch 2 editions are separate purchases on Nintendo's US store, with no upgrade path or save transfer. Our platform pages explain each version before you choose.
Is it worth buying?
Buy it if you are a One Piece fan, a Kairosoft regular, or someone who enjoys relaxed management games you can play in short sessions. Reviewers consistently say those players will get the most from it.
Wait for more reviews or a sale if you want a challenging sim, care a lot about music and polish, or know nothing about One Piece. Our beginner tips and guide pages help with the slow start critics mentioned.
