ONE PIECE: Grand Gourmet on the Nintendo eShop

ONE PIECE: Grand Gourmet has two separate Nintendo eShop listings: one for the original Nintendo Switch and one for the native Nintendo Switch 2 edition. Both US pages show an October 23, 2026 release date. Before buying, choose the right edition for your console and check the price in your own Nintendo Account region. Nintendo says the Switch edition cannot be upgraded to the Switch 2 edition, and saves cannot be transferred between the two.

Two eShop editions

Nintendo's US store has one product page for the Nintendo Switch edition and another for the Nintendo Switch 2 edition. Each page is clearly labelled with its system. Picking the right page is the most important step when buying digitally.

The Switch edition is listed as compatible with Switch 2. The native Switch 2 edition is a separate product made for the newer console. Bandai Namco's launch announcement confirms both as launch platforms.

Nintendo of America also released a dedicated Switch 2 announcement trailer on June 9, 2026. Together with the two product pages, it confirms that Switch 2 owners get a native version rather than only backward compatibility. You can see that trailer on our Switch 2 page.

Which edition should you buy?

If you only own an original Switch, the Switch edition is the one to buy. If you own a Switch 2, you can choose either, because the Switch edition is listed as compatible with the newer console. Nintendo also sells the native Switch 2 edition for that console.

Think about where you will play long term before choosing. Nintendo's US Switch listing says the Switch edition cannot be upgraded to the Switch 2 edition. It also says saves cannot be transferred between the two editions.

No upgrade discount or performance comparison between the editions was published. We therefore do not recommend one edition on performance grounds. Our Switch and Switch 2 pages explain each version in more detail.

Release date and pre-orders

Both US eShop pages show October 23, 2026, and the UK Switch page shows the same date. This matches Bandai Namco's announced release date. Check your own eShop for the date shown in your region.

Nintendo's UK page explains that pre-ordering does not let you play before release. It secures the game so it is ready when the release date arrives. We found no public demo on the eShop when we checked.

What you need to buy and download

Nintendo's UK page lists the basics for a digital purchase. You need a Nintendo Account, and purchases are made in the eShop for that account's region. The console must be linked to the account and running current system software.

You also need an internet connection to download the game and enough free storage to hold it. The US Switch 2 page listed an estimated size of 292 MB. That figure is a store estimate and may change by release.

  • A Nintendo Account in your region
  • A console linked to that account
  • Current system software
  • An internet connection
  • Enough free storage

Price and account region

Prices differ by country and can change, so we do not list a worldwide price. The eShop you see depends on the region of your Nintendo Account. Always check the final price at checkout.

We also found no confirmed launch discount or bundle on the eShop. Refund rules follow Nintendo's own policies, not this site. Contact Nintendo support for any purchase issue.

If you see a price on another website, compare it with the eShop before buying. Only the eShop for your account region shows the price you will actually pay. Retail or code sellers outside Nintendo were not part of our research.

Duplicate purchases and save warnings

Nintendo's US Switch listing warns players to check which version they are buying. Buying both editions means paying twice, because there is no upgrade path. Make sure the product page shows the system you intend to play on.

The same page says saves cannot be transferred between the Switch and Switch 2 editions. Starting on one edition and moving to the other later would mean starting again. This is the most important warning on the eShop pages.

Households with both consoles should decide which edition each player will use. One person playing the Switch edition on a Switch 2 and another on a native Switch 2 copy will have completely separate saves. Planning this before buying saves money and progress.

Cloud saves: regional pages disagree

Save backup is a separate question from moving a save between editions. The UK and US Switch pages describe cloud backup differently. Because of that conflict, we cannot confirm whether Save Data Cloud is supported in every region.

Check the listing in your own eShop before relying on cloud backup. We will update this section if Nintendo clarifies it. Either way, cloud backup would not allow a save to move from the Switch edition to the Switch 2 edition.

Playing the Switch edition on Switch 2

Nintendo's US page says the Switch edition runs on Switch 2. That is useful if you already own the Switch version or want to buy one copy for a household with both consoles. It is not the same as owning the native Switch 2 edition.

The difference matters because there is no upgrade path between the two. Playing the Switch edition on Switch 2 keeps you on the Switch edition, and your save stays there. No source compares how the two editions run, so we make no performance claim.

Before you press Buy

A short checklist helps avoid the most common eShop mistakes. Each item comes from Nintendo's own product pages. None of them depends on unverified details.

  • The product page names the console you will play on.
  • The release date shown matches your expectations.
  • Your Nintendo Account is in the region you want to buy from.
  • You have enough free storage for the download.
  • You understand that saves do not transfer between editions.

Play modes on Switch

Nintendo's UK listing shows that the Switch edition supports TV, tabletop and handheld modes. That lets you run the restaurant on the television or on the go. Steam and Nintendo both list the game as single-player.

ONE PIECE: Grand Gourmet is a restaurant management simulation from Kairosoft, published by Bandai Namco Entertainment. You cook with Sanji, design Baratie Number Two and welcome more than 400 characters. Our game guide explains the confirmed systems.
